Description:
Fitzroy beach is a well setup surf beach in the centre of New Plymouth. There are full changing and showering facilities available here and a grass area to setup your kite. From there you will have to walk down to the beach to launch. The beach is half rocks, half black sand with a lot of driftwood around. Not a lot of beach at high tide which can make launching tricky but mid to low is fine. Fairly shallow for a bit at this time. Chat to some of the locals so you know what your in for in terms of waves. Best in W, SW. Be careful of rocks as there are areas of semi submerged ones, check the spot out at low tide first so you know what your in for.
